Neon Tweed
Blazer: Ann Taylor (similar here); Cami: Top Shop (similar here); Skirt: Halogen (similar here; similar look here); Necklace: Mikimoto; Shoes: Sam Edelman
How fun is this look for summer? I'm not sure if it comes across in these photos, but this skirt is NEON pink. The classic pencil silhouette and conservative blazer and shoes balance out the bright skirt and make it more conservative office-appropriate. I also like that the tweed is just two-tone, so it does not come across as too bright or busy, especially when paired with white.
I bought this skirt last year, but linked a similar one above. You can also achieve this look with any bright colored skirt; just keep it to a two-tone or monocromatic pencil, and pair with classic pieces, like a white dress shirt or a blazer. I linked a beautiful yellow floral option (I can't wear yellow but love it on other people!) above. Bring some sunshine into your office!
I also have to mention how much I love this pearl necklace. I originally purchased this to wear for my wedding, but part of why I picked it is because I knew it would be a versatile piece that I could wear often in the future. It's a simple pearl and diamond pendant that goes with many necklines adds a touch of elegance to so many outfits--including work outfits. And every time I wear it, I'm reminded of my beautiful wedding day. :-) If you're lucky enough to be picking out a piece of jewelry for a special occasion (graduation, wedding, birthday, etc.), it's a good idea to think about something that you can also wear to work--you will get so much more use out of the beautiful item.
As much as possible, I try to find pieces that will work both in and out of the office. The cami above is another example. It looks great as a shell under several of my blazers, but on the weekends, I can tuck it into a pair of high-waist pants, throw on a scarf and sandals, and have an easy casual look to wear out and about.
What are some of the items you've found that you love to wear both during and after hours? Let me know in the comments!
